Cards from Africa

The organisation Cards from Africa is a fair trade company in Rwanda. The staff is young, orphaned adults. Their employees are the heads of their orphaned households, and they use the money to feed and clothe their younger brothers and sisters as well as purchase medicine and provide school tuition when needed. The company takes social responsibility for its employees and pays a salary that is 4-6 times the average wage in Rwanda.

Low environmental impact

The beautiful handcrafted cards are born of simple office waste. At Cards from Africa, they make all of their handmade papers from discarded scraps that would otherwise be destined to burn. Not only is this environmentally friendly, it also ensures that they have a large range of base colors and textures of paper to work with.

Fairtrade

By choosing a product from a Fair Trade company you will contribute to improved working and living conditions for workers in developing countries. The producer must meet a number of criterias in order to be Fair Trade. Child labor is prohibited in Fair Trade businesses.
